So I have a pair of boyfriend jeans I wear for casual day to day events, school and general lazy moments, but they don't have to be considered your 'scruffy' clothes. If I am meeting up with friends and don't want to change out of them, this is how I style them:
You can pre-order the lily-white leather sandal from Windsor Smith its probably my favourite thing here. I don't have them and I have been looking for a shoe just like it. However at 90 pounds I am on the search for something of a lower budget. I think white shoes are becoming more and more popular as they have this vintage 90s feel to them. Pair them with lacy socks and they have this girly grunge look that works really well with jeans like this or floral dresses.

OOTD: Wide Leg Trousers and Crop Tops
Today calls for a long trouser, but seeing as I am going to a family friend's house for lunch I want to look smart and sophisticated. I might normally go for a smart pair of jeans or a maxi but I just love the look of wide leg trousers as they are so floaty and elegant, granting you that effortless smart-casual look. Wear a fur jacket or leather jacket (preferably cropped to show the form of the outfit) and some cute heels (not too high) to complete the look.
My favourite trousers are the far right. They are Stella McCartney and look so fun and playful with a loose white top but for an evening look they could be paired with a white crop top and silver-tone jewelery. I think that this style of trousers, depending on how you wear them, work for such a wide variety of age and personal styles. My mum has a pair she wears with a blouse and blazer for a smart meeting look, while I take more silky patterned pairs and play around with them. A plain pair of these are a great investment as you are guaranteed to be able to style them for different occasions throughout life, they are timeless and classic in my opinion.

Summer Accessories
The weather is appalling these days and all I can think about is summer. One thing I have been pretty excited about is bare legs because it means you can wear a killer pair of socks. I'm not sure why and it sounds lame, but socks are one of my favourite accessories. I just think if they compliment your shoes they can add something special to an outfit that might not be particularly exciting. For instance, these socks from Nasty Gal:
My favourite are the pale ones, I think if you want to wear socks with an open toe heel these are the way to go as they are quite transparent and dainty so they don't look to clumpy. Another place to get cool socks would be Shop Koshka's sock boutique on their online store. Theirs are more bold and much less feminine. I would pair them with chunky flatforms or a pair of creepers:

Moving on from socks as not everyone cares quite so much about them, this summer I feel its all about grunge silver-tone jewelery. I've been sticking to gold the last few months as I discovered some vintage gold necklaces my mum has that she never bothered to let me know about, but I feel that silver is so much more easy-breezy for summer. I was looking through the shop wasteland website when I came across these beauties:
For starters I know the ring isn't exactly silver, but it is more in the grey tones. Chunky rings have always been a favourite of mine and this one is just perfect, the jagged rock is raw and fun. The necklace can be added to any outfit to make it more exciting and I think a statement necklace like this is essential for your summer lookbook. The geometric form also allows it to work with more of a variety of styles, I love its shape and I feel like it would look really natural and fitting with your little black dress or just a pair of jeans and a simple low-cut top. So the most important summer accessory has to be sunglasses, because here in london its the only time you can crack 'em out.
So here I have picked out my three favourite pairs from nasty gal because I think they are the best place to go for a cool quirky pair. I love the pop-art feel of the bottom two and I've always liked the combination of neutral and neon colours, which you can see in the first pair. I think if you can pull off something like that you should go for it. As you can see I prefer the more round shapes, they are really popular at the moment and come in such an interesting variety its hard not to get hooked. When I was in hong kong I got three pairs of round sunglasses for a tenner at the market - great moment! Another place that sells incredible shades is Urban Outfitters:

So tacky I need them so bad! |
I hope you are now feeling a bit more confident as to which direction to go with your summer accessories. If this isn't your thing ignore me, but if you like what you see, feel free to comment with any questions or post-requests!
Now I am desperate for summer to arrive.

Nasty Gal Skirt
Nasty Gal sells a variation of quirky clothes from its own original brand and others such as Cheap Monday and Wildfox. Just last week my new denim skirt arrived and I adore it. It is true to colour and size and I've already put together an insane amount of outfits with it. I love the American Apparel denim mini so I was planning on purchasing that instead, but I saw this skirt and thought it was so much more unique and interesting than a plain skirt. The buttons have tiny skulls engraved on them and I personally think this adds a grunge touch to it. It is basic but still bold.
I love the panel stitch detail, it adds form and is flattering. |
I would recommend this skirt to anyone because you can wear it to any style you like, whether girly or grunge. You could pair it with a pair of knee highs and a half-tucked-in slobby jumper for a effortless casual look or boots and a leather jacket for a bit more edge, you know, if biker-chic is your kinda thang.
